Phase II of Brighton Pointe in Raleigh - November 2016

Brighton Pointe is a tax credit housing unit for people over 55 in Raleigh NCWEAVERCOOKE is in the middle of construction on the second phase of Brighton Pointe, in Raleigh, North Carolina. This project, which started in May and is expected to complete in July of 2017, will provide 88 one- and two-bedroom units of tax credit housing for people over 55. All of the units are part of one 3-story building, but the construction of it has been broken into five sections, which are all at different stages.

The first phase of Brighton Pointe was completed several years ago, and is right next to the current phase. Both phases have scenic views of woods and a pond on one side, and overlook a nearby shopping center on the other. The property is conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants and a grocery store. It is only a five minute drive from Highway 540, and it will have a plethora of amenities in the common areas, including activity rooms, reading rooms, storage lockers, game rooms, exercise rooms, a TV lounge, and a picnic shelter. Every room will be equipped with washer and dryer hook-ups, but there will also be community washer and dryers available for anyone who doesn’t have a machine of their own.

This project implements Lean Construction techniques, including the Last Planner System. Because some of the subcontractors are companies that we’ve worked with recently, they are already familiar with implementing Lean from previous jobs. This has given our team an advantage in implementing the system and helping the newer subcontractors learn how to work with Lean Construction techniques.
